KATI’S PLACE VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT AND RELEASE
VOLUNTEER STATUS
I, the Volunteer, understand that my relationship with Kati’s Place is that of a volunteer and not an employee. I agree that I will receive no salary, wages, or other financial compensation for my services. Furthermore, I understand that I am not entitled to any employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, vacation pay, or workers’ compensation coverage. I acknowledge that there is no expectation of future employment resulting from my volunteer service. If I am not asked to get a background check through Kati’s Place organization, I will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to inform Kati’s Place of all relevant personal information.
VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
I, the Volunteer, understand that my primary role is to provide social support, encouragement, and companionship to participants in Kati’s Place. I will aim to foster an inclusive, safe, and fun environment for children with diverse physical, cognitive, or emotional needs. My job is to assist program leaders with program facilitation while monitoring safety, engagement and experience. My program leader may provide me with strategies to assist with program operations, and it’s my job to put these into practice.
TRACKING VOLUNTEER HOURS
I understand that Kati’s Place tracks volunteer hours to measure program impact, satisfy grant reporting requirements, and recognize the dedication of its volunteers. I agree to record my service hours at the end of each shift using Kati’s Place online platform. I will include the date, total hours served, and a brief description of the activities performed. I understand that all logged hours are subject to verification by a staff supervisor. Upon request, Kati’s Place will provide a summary of hours served to support my applications for school, scholarships, or professional development.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY
I am aware that volunteer activities may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to physical strain, unpredictable behavior, and compassion fatigue. I voluntarily assume all risks of injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from these activities. I hereby release, forever discharge, and hold harmless Kati’s Place, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability, claims, and demands—whether in law or equity—arising from my volunteer work. This includes claims resulting from the organization’s ordinary negligence. I also release Kati’s Place from any claim arising from first-aid treatment or medical services rendered in connection with an emergency during my time as a volunteer. I authorize the organization to seek medical treatment on my behalf if necessary.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND NON-DISCLOSURES
During my volunteer service, I may have access to "Confidential Information," which includes but is not limited to: personal data of clients or staff, donor identities, financial records, and non-public organizational strategies. I agree to maintain this information in strict confidence. I will not disclose, share, or use any Confidential Information for any purpose outside of my assigned volunteer duties without prior written authorization from Kati’s Place. I agree to follow all organizational security protocols, including refraining from leaving sensitive documents in plain view or making unauthorized electronic copies of data. My obligation to keep this information confidential continues even after my volunteer service with Kati’s Place ends. I understand that a breach of this agreement may result in immediate termination of my volunteer role and potential legal action.
PHOTO RELEASE
I hereby grant and convey to Kati’s Place all right, title, and interest in any and all photographic images and video or audio recordings made by Kati’s Place during my volunteer activities. I agree that Kati’s Place may use my name, voice, and likeness in any format (including print, digital, or social media) for any lawful purpose, including publicity, marketing, and fundraising, without further compensation or notification. I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or any printed or electronic matter that may be used in conjunction with them now or in the future. I understand that if I do not wish to be photographed, I must notify Kati’s Place in writing prior to the start of my service.
TERMINATION
I understand that my volunteer service is "at-will." This means that either I or Kati’s Place may terminate this relationship at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without prior notice. While the organization reserves the right to end the volunteer relationship for any reason, I acknowledge that certain actions will result in immediate termination, including but not limited to: any form of physical, verbal, or emotional abuse or neglect toward a participant; breach of confidentiality regarding a participant’s medical or personal information; reporting for service under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs; failure to follow safety protocols or the instructions of the Program Leader. If I choose to stop volunteering, I agree to provide a two weeks notice whenever possible to ensure the continuity of care and support for the program participants.
BACKGROUND CHECK AUTHORIZATION
I understand that to ensure the safety and security of all participants, staff, and families at Kati’s Place, my service as a volunteer is strictly conditional upon the successful completion of a background screening. I hereby authorize Kati’s Place, and its designated third-party screening agencies, to conduct a criminal background check, sex offender registry search, and any other relevant background verifications. I agree to provide accurate identification and any necessary information required to complete this screening. I understand that Kati’s Place reserves the right to deny or terminate my volunteer service at its sole discretion based on the results of this background check.
